"Prepared and Professional"

“My fiancé and I took our first dance lessons for our wedding with the incredible instructor, Paul Daniells, and we cannot recommend him enough! … What impressed us the most was how prepared and professional he was -- he took the time to listen to our song ahead of time, analyzed the rhythm, and came ready with choreography that fit perfectly with our music and personalities. … If you're looking for someone who truly cares about making your dance special, Paul is absolutely the one to go to. We'll be recommending him and this studio to all our friends and family -- thank you for such an amazing experience!”

"Everyone at the wedding admired the graceful dance"

“We went to Paul and Julianne to help us with the first dance for our wedding reception. The song we wanted to dance with was Indian but Paul and Julianne had no problems with that. In just 2 sessions we were very happy with what they taught us. Everyone at the wedding admired the graceful dance and we could not be happier. Thank you for making our day extra special and we want to come back and learn more soon!”

Why Private Ballroom Dance Lessons
Are the Fastest and Most Enjoyable Way to Learn

Starting ballroom dance lessons can feel exciting, but it's also normal to have questions. Many people worry they have two left feet, no rhythm, or that they'll feel awkward on the dance floor. The good news is that private dance lessons are designed specifically to help beginners succeed, regardless of experience level.

Private ballroom dance lessons provide personalized instruction that allows you to learn comfortably, confidently, and at your own pace. Whether you're preparing for a wedding, looking for a fun date night activity, hoping to meet new people, or simply wanting to learn a new skill, private lessons offer the most effective path to achieving your goals.

Learn at Your Own Pace

One of the greatest advantages of private lessons is that the lesson is built around you.

In a group class, instructors must teach to the average level of the room. Some students may feel rushed while others may feel held back. During a private lesson, your instructor can adjust the speed of instruction to match your learning style and experience level.

Need extra time on a particular step? No problem.

Ready to move ahead more quickly? We can do that too.

This personalized pace helps students feel more comfortable and often leads to faster progress and greater confidence.

Focus on the Dances You Actually Want to Learn

Not everyone has the same goals.

Some students want to learn Waltz for elegant social dancing. Others love the energy of Swing or Salsa. Some couples want to prepare for their wedding first dance, while others dream of dancing competitively.

Private lessons allow you to focus on the dances that matter most to you.

Rather than following a fixed curriculum, your instructor can create a customized learning plan that matches your interests, goals, and timeline.

Receive Individualized Attention

Private lessons provide one-on-one coaching that simply isn't possible in a large class setting.

Your instructor can immediately identify habits that are helping or hindering your progress and provide personalized feedback tailored specifically to your dancing.

This individualized attention helps students develop stronger fundamentals from the beginning and avoid common mistakes that can become difficult to correct later.

Develop Better Leading and Following Skills

Great partner dancing is about communication.

Whether you're learning to lead or follow, private lessons provide the opportunity to focus on the subtle skills that make dancing feel smooth, connected, and enjoyable.

You'll learn:

  • How to communicate through movement

  • How to create better connection with a partner

  • How to lead clearly and confidently

  • How to follow comfortably and naturally

  • How to move together as a team

These skills are often difficult to develop in group environments but can improve dramatically through focused private instruction.

Build Confidence Faster

Many new students are surprised by how quickly their confidence grows.

Private lessons create a supportive environment where you can ask questions, make mistakes, and learn without feeling self-conscious.

As your skills improve, you'll begin feeling more comfortable at social dances, weddings, parties, cruises, country bars, and other events where dancing is part of the experience.

The confidence you gain on the dance floor often extends beyond dancing and into other areas of life as well.

Perfect for Beginners

You do not need dance experience to start.

In fact, many of our students begin with absolutely no previous dance training.

Private lessons allow instructors to introduce concepts gradually and clearly, making learning enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

If you've ever said:

  • "I have no rhythm."

  • "I can't dance."

  • "I'm afraid I'll look silly."

You're exactly the type of student private lessons are designed to help

Achieve Specific Goals More Efficiently

Private lessons are ideal for students with a particular objective in mind.

Common goals include:

  • Wedding first dances

  • Father-daughter dances

  • Mother-son dances

  • Social dancing

  • Cruise vacations

  • Country dancing

  • Ballroom competitions

  • Showcases and performances

  • Fitness and wellness

  • Date night activities

Because every lesson is tailored to your goals, your time is spent learning exactly what you need.

Create a Strong Foundation for Group Classes and Social Dancing

Private lessons and group classes work beautifully together.

Many students begin with private lessons to establish confidence and fundamentals before joining group classes and social dance events.

This combination allows students to receive personalized coaching while also gaining experience dancing with others in a fun social environment

More Than Just Dance Lessons

Ballroom dancing offers benefits far beyond learning steps.

Students often discover:

  • Improved fitness and coordination

  • Better balance and posture

  • Reduced stress

  • Increased confidence

  • New friendships

  • Stronger relationships

  • A fun and engaging hobby

Many people arrive wanting to learn a few dance steps and end up discovering a lifelong passion.

At DanceWise, we believe dancing should be enjoyable, encouraging, and accessible to everyone. Whether you're stepping onto the dance floor for the first time or returning after years away, private lessons provide a welcoming and effective way to begin your dance journey.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

Do I need a partner?

No. Many students take lessons individually. Whether you come alone or with a partner, we can help you learn and enjoy dancing.

I'm a complete beginner. Can I still take lessons?

Absolutely. Many of our students have never danced before. We specialize in helping beginners feel comfortable and confident from their very first lesson.

What should I wear to my first lesson?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Shoes with smooth soles are ideal, but comfortable everyday shoes are perfectly fine for your first lesson.

What dances can I learn?

We teach a wide variety of ballroom, Latin, country, swing, and social dances, including Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Salsa, Country Two Step, Nightclub Two Step, and more.

How long does it take to learn ballroom dancing?

Everyone learns at a different pace. Most students begin feeling comfortable with basic patterns after just a few lessons, while continued lessons help develop confidence, technique, and versatility.

Are private lessons better than group classes?

Both have advantages. Private lessons provide individualized instruction and faster progress, while group classes offer additional practice and social interaction. Many students enjoy combining both.

How often should I take lessons?

Most students take one lesson per week, although some choose more frequent lessons when preparing for weddings, competitions, showcases, or special events.

Is ballroom dancing good exercise?

Yes. Ballroom dancing improves balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall fitness while being enjoyable and engaging.

Can you help with wedding dances?

Absolutely. We specialize in creating customized wedding dances for couples, as well as father-daughter and mother-son dances.

Am I too old to start dancing?

Not at all. Ballroom dancing can be enjoyed at virtually any age. Many students begin dancing later in life and discover a rewarding hobby that keeps them active and social.
