Why did you start dancing?
"I like to stay active and eat healthy. 13 years ago I was playing tennis and hot yoga. I found a dance studio near by, stopped in and started to learn Salsa, Bachata and Cha Cha. 6 months later I stopped by another Ballroom dance studio and met Julianne teaching there at the time. I took many group classes during the week trying to familiarize myself with different dances. It was good exercise. I was so brand new, it was not easy. I did not give up."
What’s your favorite dance?
"Waltz. Everybody loves a waltz. I think it’s a very important dance to learn. Learning the posture and frame in waltz does help many of my other dances."
What’s your favorite memory at DanceWise?
"Enjoying the Black Tie and dress to impress nights with something to eat and drink. It’s nice seeing everyone getting all dressed up! Enjoying food and drink.
It’s Something fun and something different!"
Do you have any advice for other dancers?
"Yes, having an experienced teacher/coach such as Julianne or Paul to work with from time to time helps a great deal. It’s no different than learning any other sport. Some private lessons help! Video tape your lessons and dancing from time to time. This way you can see yourself dancing and then try to improve on something you see. Even if it’s just one thing. Work on good posture, frame and leading or following-the basics. ( I am still learning and have a lot to work on). Good quality basics for the entire dance makes dancing more fun as you and your partner improve.'"
